Molecular Lab Supervisor (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States. The role requires working an assigned shift. Available shifts are Sun–Wed, 7:00am–5:30pm, or Wed–Sat, 2:00pm–12:30am.

Salary: $60,000–$80,000 per year for roles performed from Illinois. Compensation may vary for California, Colorado, and New York locations.

What you will do

• Oversee daily molecular laboratory workflows producing next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times.
• Monitor quality control, analytic performance, instrument maintenance, and other quality assurance activities.
• Review samples throughout the sequencing workflow, from extraction through sequencing output.
• Ensure remedial actions are completed when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
• Maintain laboratory safety and compliance with CLIA, CAP, and NYSDOH requirements.
• Schedule training and competency assessments, onboard new hires, and mentor clinical molecular and extraction technologists.

Requirements

• MD with at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience; or PhD in a physical, chemical, or biological science with at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience; or MS in a related science with at least 2 years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience; or BS in a related science with at least 4 years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience.
• Excellent communication, delegation, collaboration, and planning skills.
• Ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary team and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and motivation to build products that improve cancer care.
• Ability to work the assigned shift, with assignment based on technical level, experience, and business needs.

Nice to have

• Experience with next-generation sequencing and supervision.
• Experience in a CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory.
• Experience with robotics and automated liquid-handling systems.
• Knowledge of LIMS platforms and other computer systems.
