Data Scientist (Applied AI)

What you will do

• Develop data and knowledge foundations to support engineering and scientific analysis of fusion systems
• Analyze experimental and operational data to identify trends and generate actionable insights
• Create data schemas, ontologies, and metadata frameworks to organize complex technical information
• Design and maintain data pipelines integrating diverse data sources into analytics-ready datasets
• Build and evaluate AI-powered workflows including retrieval, summarization, and anomaly analysis
• Prototype decision-support tools for anomaly detection, experiment comparison, and reporting

Requirements

• 7+ years experience in data science, statistics, or machine learning in hardware, physics, or engineering environments
• Experience with complex operational, experimental, and time-series data analysis
• Proficiency in Python and modern data science tooling
• Experience developing structured data representations such as schemas and ontologies
• Familiarity with LLM APIs and applied AI techniques like RAG, embeddings, and semantic search
• On-site work in Everett, WA office
