Data Scientist (Fraud Risk)

Location: Remote within the United States or Canada; candidates must maintain a home base in the country of hire.

Salary: US$170,000–US$210,000 estimated base salary; Canada CA$175,000–CA$210,000 estimated base salary, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Build and deploy machine learning models for fraud prevention across fintech use cases, from proof of concept through production.
• Develop metrics and analyze risk strategy performance, fraud reduction, and client approval rates.
• Work directly with clients to understand fraud challenges and turn complex data insights into actionable recommendations.
• Design and automate self-serve dashboards using BI tools.
• Collaborate with Engineering to scale models, optimize performance, and support data instrumentation.
• Partner with Business, Product, and Engineering to translate requirements into data-driven solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data science, quantitative modeling, product analytics, business analytics, or a related data-focused role, with significant fraud or risk experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python or R and SQL.
• Expertise with BI tools such as Tableau, Sigma, or Metabase.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis, cohort analysis, complex datasets, and performance metrics.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients.
• Strong critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and bias toward action.
