Controls & Data Acquisition Engineer (Fusion)

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and deploy LabVIEW-based control and data acquisition systems for fusion R&D and manufacturing.
• Develop operator interfaces for machine control, equipment health monitoring, and data visualization.
• Implement state-machine control architectures and integrate cRIOs, PLCs, industrial controllers, sensors, and laboratory equipment.
• Build network communications and device interfaces using protocols including RS-232, TCP/IP, VISA, UART, SPI, I²C, and Modbus.
• Perform system verification, bench testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational sustainment.
• Document systems through schematics, block diagrams, system diagrams, and well-documented code while communicating technical progress, risks, and tradeoffs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 1+ years of experience.
• Strong proficiency in LabVIEW, including control-system and GUI development.
• Experience owning end-to-end development of complex control and data acquisition systems.
• Hands-on experience with National Instruments PXI, PXIe, and cRIO hardware in Real-Time and/or FPGA environments.
• Experience programming PLCs, cRIOs, microcontrollers, and other industrial automation hardware.
• Experience integrating laboratory and industrial equipment, including flow controllers, gauges, pumps, oscilloscopes, and power supplies, as well as power supply control, precision timing, voltage monitoring, and high-speed data acquisition.
