DSRD Necropsy and Histology Specialist Technician

Location: On premise in Groton, Connecticut, United States

Salary: $33.11–$55.18 per hour, plus potential overtime, weekend, holiday, and other pay premiums.

What you will do

• Execute rodent and non-rodent necropsy and histology techniques according to regulatory, exploratory, and investigative study protocols.
• Perform routine procedures in accordance with SOPs, guidelines, regulatory requirements, EHS standards, and IACUC requirements.
• Communicate with pathologists and the pathology laboratory manager on specimen collection, handling, submission, and documentation.
• Maintain equipment and laboratory spaces, ensuring work and specimens remain fully traceable.
• Adapt standard procedures for non-standard endpoints and improve efficiency, throughput, and quality.
• Lead laboratory projects, maintain data integrity, and coach colleagues on technical procedures, GLP, and animal welfare.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 4+ years of relevant experience, an associate degree with 3–4 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2–3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of necropsy and histology across multiple species used in toxicity studies.
• Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practice and the ability to follow scientific, regulatory, EHS, and IACUC requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, perform ex vivo technical procedures, and wear appropriate PPE.
• Ability to lift, sit, stand, walk, and bend; weekend and holiday work is required.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States by any employer is required. U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of relevant necropsy and histology experience.
• HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or eligibility.
