Research Associate, Biologics Formulation

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Employees must be lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $28–$45 per hour, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Prepare and maintain stock solutions, reagents, buffers, and sample sets for biologics formulation development.
• Conduct analytical characterization of protein formulations and support stability study setup and pull-points.
• Maintain laboratory instruments, including calibration, qualification, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Manage chemical inventory and coordinate supply needs to support uninterrupted laboratory operations.
• Maintain organized, clean, GLP-ready laboratory areas and accurate GxP-compliant records.
• Collaborate with formulation scientists, communicate supply risks, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in a biopharmaceutical or academic research laboratory.
• Hands-on experience preparing and handling proteins and knowledge of basic protein characterization techniques.
• Strong attention to detail, precise adherence to SOPs, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks and data management systems.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Experience in formulation development or protein drug product development.
• Familiarity with DLS, viscometry, or capillary electrophoresis.
• Previous experience in GLP-compliant environments.
• Knowledge of monoclonal antibodies or therapeutic proteins.
