Director of Test Engineering (Power Distribution)

What you will do

• Lead the test engineering function and build a high-performing team supporting production testing across manufacturing facilities in North America.
• Define test engineering strategy in alignment with company goals and product roadmaps.
• Develop functional test plans for new product introduction and mass-production launches.
• Design, validate, and maintain automated and manual test protocols for switchgear, control panels, circuit breakers, transformers, and related systems.
• Drive continuous improvement in testing processes, tools, metrics, and KPIs to improve quality, cost, and time-to-market.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Product Management, regulatory bodies, and third-party testing laboratories.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in test engineering or related roles, including at least 5 years in leadership.
• Deep knowledge of low- and medium-voltage power equipment, electrical characteristics, failure modes, and safety considerations.
• Experience developing and implementing test plans and processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of IEEE C37.20 and related UL, IEC, ANSI, NFPA, and ASTM standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and project management skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with automated test equipment, data acquisition systems, and PLCs.
• Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineering talent.
