TL;DR
Technical Accounting Manager (Finance): Lead technical accounting research and prepare memos for complex, non-routine transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP with an accent on IPO readiness, SEC reporting, and cross-functional partnership. Focus on analyzing significant transactions, developing accounting policies, supporting audits, and contributing to M&A and strategic initiatives.
Location
Location: San Jose or San Francisco office, hybrid with 4 days onsite per week
Salary: $169,000 – $225,000 per year

What you will do
- Lead technical accounting research and prepare memos for complex, non-routine transactions under U.S. GAAP
- Analyze accounting implications of significant transactions including revenue, equity, debt, business combinations, leases, and stock-based compensation
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Tax, FP&A, and Treasury to assess accounting impacts and provide guidance
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and implement new FASB and SEC guidance for public company readiness
- Support IPO readiness efforts including drafting disclosures and assisting with S-1/10-K preparation
- Assist with consolidated financial statement preparation and support external audits and SOX readiness
- Contribute to M&A, system implementations, and other strategic initiatives
Requirements
- Must have presence in San Jose or San Francisco office 4 days per week
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4+ years of technical accounting experience, preferably Big 4 or public company
- Active CPA required
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting
- Experience with ERP and reporting tools such as NetSuite and Workiva
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
Nice to have
- Big 4 audit or accounting advisory experience
- Deep knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718
- Experience with pre-IPO technical matters and SEC reporting
- Background in high-growth, pre-IPO or public technology companies (SaaS/AI preferred)
- Exposure to M&A and purchase accounting
- Experience strengthening controls and building scalable accounting processes
