Robotics Autonomy Engineer - Federal

Location: On-site in Irvine, California, United States. The role supports federal projects and requires U.S. Person eligibility.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year, plus benefits and equity.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end deployment, configuration, testing, and operation of autonomous wheeled robotic platforms in customer environments.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, and networking issues to maintain system uptime and mission success.
• Gather and analyze field feedback and implement monitoring and diagnostic tools to improve reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, AI research, product, and engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Train and support customer operators, translate technical concepts into workflows, and accelerate system adoption.
• Build scalable deployment practices and playbooks for future rollouts.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–3 years of software engineering or systems integration experience in field robotics.
• Experience deploying complex technical systems in the field.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, Git, and ROS.
• Familiarity with Linux-based systems, containerization, and cloud infrastructure.
• U.S. Person eligibility is required for projects connected to the U.S. government.

Nice to have

• Experience operating or maintaining mission-critical systems in real-world environments.
• Experience with Jira, Wrike, Confluence, or similar program management tools.
• Experience working directly with customers in high-stakes, fast-paced settings.
• Willingness to travel and work on-site with customers as needed.
