Manager of Supplier Development Engineering

Salary: $182,000–$220,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of Supplier Development Engineers while setting priorities, resource plans, and execution frameworks.
• Develop supplier readiness, technical capability, quality, and performance strategies for scaling fusion generator production.
• Partner with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations to translate part and subsystem requirements into supplier manufacturing and quality expectations.
• Lead supplier selection, capability assessments, sourcing decisions, audits, and manufacturing risk evaluations.
• Oversee PPAP, APQP, FAI, control plans, and other supplier qualification processes.
• Guide suppliers from prototype and validation builds through pilot production and high-volume manufacturing while driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering, including direct supplier development experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams or technical programs.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including machining, electromechanical assembly, PCBA fabrication, silicon device manufacturing, and high-precision components.
• Knowledge of supplier quality methodologies including PPAP, APQP, FAI, control plans, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma.
• Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 quality systems and willingness to travel up to 25% for supplier audits and development.
