What you will do

  • Lead the Manufacturing Design Engineering team responsible for electric motor and drive unit production lines, including hiring, development, and resource planning.
  • Own capital equipment execution from RFQ and design specifications through FAT, SAT, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
  • Manage capital expenditure budgets, vendor relationships, equipment builders, automation suppliers, and executive approvals.
  • Partner with Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering to apply design-for-manufacturability principles and optimize products for automated assembly.
  • Present program status, capital forecasts, and capacity models to executive leadership.
  • Ensure equipment meets throughput, yield, and overall equipment effectiveness targets for current and future production schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of technical management experience and 5+ years in high-volume automated manufacturing; EV, aerospace, or semiconductor experience is preferred.
  • Deep expertise in at least one drive unit subsystem, such as stator, rotor, inverter, gearbox, or actuators, with strong automated assembly knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience specifying PLCs, industrial robotics, vision systems, dispense systems, torque tools, and machine safety devices.
  • Experience with capex budgeting, vendor RFQs, line balancing, layout design, FAT/SAT protocols, and structured root-cause methods including DMAIC, 8D, and 5-Why.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX, as well as PLM, MES, and ERP platforms; work visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Programming or architecture experience with Siemens, Beckhoff, or Allen-Bradley PLCs and complex MES integrations.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 79, NEC, UL508A, ANSI/RIA 15.06, and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience taking complex electromagnetic assemblies from NPI prototype builds through full-scale automated line qualification.
