TL;DR

Location: Remote in California or field-based within the US; Chicago is also considered. Travel up to 50%.

Salary: $120,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, if performed from California. The range may vary for Colorado, Illinois, and New York.

What you will do

  • Manage external oncology research collaborations, including investigator-initiated trials, assay grants, biobank studies, prospective trials, and retrospective real-world data studies.
  • Engage oncology KOLs, academic investigators, cooperative groups, and pharmaceutical trial collaborators.
  • Evaluate study proposals for completeness, feasibility, scientific merit, clinical value, and strategic alignment.
  • Coordinate study-related communications between external investigators and internal data science, biostatistics, bioinformatics, clinical development, R&D, sales, marketing, and medical affairs teams.
  • Support abstracts, scientific presentations, manuscripts, publication planning, medical advisory boards, and conference meeting summaries.
  • Contribute to medical research strategy and scientific exchange plans focused on biomarkers, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, tumor response monitoring, and minimal residual disease.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of Medical Science Liaison or Medical Affairs experience in diagnostics, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Advanced scientific or medical degree such as PhD, PharmD, MD, MSN, BSN, or BS.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in molecular oncology, biomarkers, genomic testing, and diagnostic platforms.
  • Experience in medical writing for abstracts, scientific presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Ability to manage up to 25–30 study collaborations and communicate effectively with KOLs, academic researchers, and commercial field teams.
  • Working knowledge of genomic laboratory-developed testing, CLIA-88, CAP, the Sunshine Act, statistical methods, and clinical trial design.

Nice to have

  • Existing oncology KOL relationships.
  • Formal translational or clinical oncology research experience.
  • Experience working in clinical settings, particularly academic institutions.
