Senior Software Engineer, Ads

Salary: $196,000–$220,500 US base salary per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain Ads products and infrastructure across backend and frontend systems.
• Develop and scale digital advertising features that improve user engagement and drive revenue growth.
• Collaborate with engineers across Revenue Infrastructure, Core Tech, Machine Learning, and Data Science.
• Architect simple, maintainable systems that support rapid launches and iterative development.
• Own projects end to end, including requirements refinement, technical design, implementation, launch, and maintenance.
• Introduce coding and operational best practices while mentoring engineers on architecture, API design, data modeling, and trade-offs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong focus on product impact, ownership, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
• Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers to solve business problems.
• Ability to design system architectures, APIs, data models, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Strong communication, mentorship, and end-to-end project ownership skills.

Nice to have

• Expertise with Python, Rust, TypeScript, React, or React Native.
• Experience in advertising.
• Familiarity with experimentation and analysis.
• Open-source contributions.
• Interest in the Discord platform.
