Data Center Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; on-site and fully in-person. Relocation support is available for candidates moving to San Jose.

Salary: $130,000–$210,000 estimated base salary annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own rack layouts, capacity planning, power distribution, network design, cabling, and physical deployment across data centers and hardware labs.
• Design power, cooling, and redundancy architectures for high-density AI compute deployments reaching 90 kW per rack.
• Build and manage hardware labs for platform bring-up, EVT, and customer demonstrations.
• Architect 100G/200G/400G Ethernet networks connecting compute, storage, and upstream peering.
• Develop asset management, rack documentation, change control, monitoring, and alerting systems.
• Manage preventive maintenance, hardware lifecycles, vendor RMAs, physical security, and capacity planning.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on data center engineering or operations experience.
• Direct experience with physical hardware deployment, power architecture, and facility management.
• Experience designing and deploying high-density compute environments at 20 kW per rack or above.
• Strong knowledge of structured cabling, fiber and copper plants, and high-speed networking hardware.
• Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams, raised-floor plans, hot-aisle/cold-aisle layouts, and co-location documentation.
• Experience with DCIM or monitoring tooling, vendor management, RFPs, facility evaluations, and SLA enforcement.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying custom or semi-custom server platforms and early-stage hardware.
• Knowledge of direct liquid cooling, rear-door heat exchangers, or immersion cooling.
• Experience with AI or HPC clusters, GPU or ASIC clusters, high-radix fabrics, or RDMA networking.
• Scripting and automation with Python, Bash, or Ansible.
• Experience in semiconductor or hardware startups.
