Senior Software Engineer, Routing (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States (HQ)

Salary: $176,400–$264,600 gross annual base pay, plus an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and scale backend systems and onboard modules for the Routing team.
• Design microservices and optimize routing algorithms for safe and efficient autonomous-vehicle journeys.
• Work with road-network graphs, map data, ETA modeling, and scalable traffic management.
• Build monitoring, analytics, troubleshooting, debugging, and profiling infrastructure.
• Optimize deployment pipelines and collaborate with product, strategy, operations, design, and engineering stakeholders on product requirements and roadmap.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience building and scaling real-time server-side applications.
• Experience solving large-scale algorithmic problems while balancing correctness and performance.
• Experience with relational, non-relational, and data-warehouse technologies, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigTable, Cassandra, Redis, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
• Experience with RPC frameworks such as gRPC or Thrift and publish-subscribe systems such as Kafka, Cloud Pub/Sub, or Celery.
• Extensive experience with cloud providers such as GCP or AWS, plus Docker and Kubernetes experience or willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in C++ and strong communication skills for cross-functional product development.

Nice to have

• Experience with routing algorithms, map data, and graph data structures.
• Experience training and inferring machine-learning models.
• Experience with robotics and ETA modeling.
