Global Supply Manager for Motors & Magnets (Robotics)

Location: San Carlos, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $145,000–$222,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for motors, gearboxes, magnetic assemblies, actuators, and related electromechanical components.
• Build and maintain a global supplier network that supports product development and high-volume production.
• Secure supply continuity through supplier selection, capacity planning, risk mitigation, and dual-source strategies.
• Drive cost improvements through negotiations, value engineering, market intelligence, and supplier partnerships.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Supplier Development teams to support NPI and production ramp-ups.
• Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, responsiveness, capacity, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in global sourcing, supply chain management, strategic sourcing, commodity management, or procurement.
• Direct sourcing experience with motors, magnetic materials, gearboxes, actuators, or related electromechanical components.
• Strong knowledge of motor manufacturing, magnetic materials, cost structures, supplier capabilities, and scalability risks.
• Demonstrated success negotiating commercial agreements and managing complex supplier relationships.
• Experience with sourcing strategies, supplier performance, NPI, production ramp-ups, and global supplier management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related discipline.

Nice to have

• Experience sourcing rare earth magnets, permanent magnet materials, or motor subassemblies.
• Understanding of motor design, magnetic circuit fundamentals, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working with suppliers throughout Asia, particularly China.
• Mandarin language proficiency.
• Experience in robotics, automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, or other high-volume electromechanical industries.
