Senior Software Engineer, Sensor Platform (Robotics): Building hardware-agnostic sensor and compute software platforms for Level 4 autonomous vehicles with an accent on device drivers, inter-device protocols, runtime APIs, reliability, and performance. Location: Mountain View, California, United States (HQ)

Salary: $160,360–$240,540 base pay annually, plus annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design and develop sensor and compute systems for autonomous robotics.
  • Architect and deploy sensor and autonomous software with high reliability and performance.
  • Deliver reliable software through metrics monitoring, automated testing, and collaboration with hardware vendors.
  • Debug complex systems, identify root causes of failure modes, and deploy effective solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional sensor and compute projects for autonomous vehicles.
  • Mentor software engineers and support their development.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience with a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or 4+ years with a Ph.D.
  • Experience in robotics or autonomous driving systems.
  • Strong C++ proficiency, especially in concurrency, and experience developing system software from device-driver to application level.
  • Deep understanding of Linux kernel-level algorithmic correctness and performance optimization.
  • Ability to investigate complex real-time systems and communicate clearly with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with robotics hardware, embedded platforms, and systems containing CPUs, GPUs, ISPs, and accelerators.
  • Experience with USB, SPI, I2C, UART, and other device communication protocols.
  • Experience with radar, lidar, visual, or thermal imaging cameras.
  • Experience with machine learning, image processing, GPU programming, or Nvidia GPU driver optimization.
  • Knowledge of Linux device-driver programming, threading, IPC, shared memory, synchronization, and networking protocols.
