Senior Software Engineer, Reporting Engine (Fintech)

Location: San Ramon, CA or New York, NY; hybrid. Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $153,000–$191,000 typical starting annual salary; $168,000–$210,000 alternate range may apply in select locations, including the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable backend services for reporting, query execution, and data-intensive product workflows.
• Drive architectural decisions across distributed systems, APIs, execution frameworks, and storage and query layers.
• Lead initiatives focused on scalability, performance optimization, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Build systems for compute- and IO-intensive workloads with strong correctness and auditability requirements.
• Improve observability, resiliency, debugging workflows, and operational tooling across production systems.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and influence technical decisions across teams.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale backend or distributed systems.
• Strong programming experience with Kotlin, Java, Python, or similar backend languages.
• Deep understanding of system design, APIs, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing and operating scalable cloud-native services, preferably on AWS.
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems, relational and distributed storage, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, mentoring, ownership, and continuous learning skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with reporting, query execution, analytics infrastructure, or distributed query engines such as Trino or Spark.
• Experience with strict correctness, auditability, and reliability requirements.
• Background in fintech, investment management, or financial data systems.
• Familiarity with React, modern frontend technologies, or AI-assisted engineering workflows.
