Senior Software Engineer, Networking & Real-Time Systems

Salary: $193,930–$291,150 base pay annually, plus annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect a network bonding framework that aggregates bandwidth across Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile cellular networks.
• Build ns-3-like simulations to stress-test networking systems against tunnel entries, rural dead zones, and congestion.
• Develop custom congestion control algorithms for high-bitrate, low-latency video streaming.
• Implement FEC and ARQ techniques to improve reliability in high-mobility environments.
• Partner with hardware and embedded teams to optimize the network stack on the vehicle gateway.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience, or a PhD in Networking or Distributed Systems with 3+ years of industry experience.
• Deep understanding of the Linux networking stack, socket programming, and data flow from the physical layer to the application.
• Expertise in performant, thread-safe C++ and real-time systems.
• Strong understanding of TCP, UDP, networking protocols, FEC, and ARQ.
• Professional experience with C++20 and Go.
• Experience with WebRTC, WebSocket, QUIC, SRT, gRPC, or Wireshark.

Nice to have

• Experience with video streaming frameworks such as WebRTC.
• Understanding of VP8, VP9, H.264, or H.265 video codecs.
