Research Assistant/Technician 1 (Cell Biology)

Salary: $4,232.75–$4,642.27 CAD monthly

hirify.global is a university research institution conducting basic and translational biomedical research through the Sorensen Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

What you will do

• Support routine cell culture maintenance and prepare materials for biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays.
• Prepare media and samples in accordance with established laboratory protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct basic literature research relevant to Ewing sarcoma and pediatric cancer research.
• Maintain laboratory and shared equipment and support daily laboratory organization.
• Assist with the daily care and maintenance of mice and keep records of mice and cages in Mosaic software.
• Work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and study leads, reporting results regularly.

Requirements

• High school graduation and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of scientific terminology and research methodology.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong communication, interpersonal, oral, and listening skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for planning experiments, tracking progress, and providing timely updates.
• Commitment to respecting diverse perspectives and developing knowledge and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Ability to follow biosafety and laboratory safety procedures when handling laboratory chemicals.

Nice to have

• Undergraduate degree in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
• Laboratory bench-work experience in a similar research field.
