Biochemist I (Biotechnology)

Location: Onsite in Rockville, Maryland, USA; up to 80% of the day may be spent at a laboratory bench or in the cleanroom.

Salary: $52,400–$76,000 annually, with potential discretionary or non-discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Manufacture products using gel filtration, centrifugation, spectrophotometry, reconstitution, and biochemical assays.
• Conjugate antibodies with biotin or SULFO-TAG NHS-Ester to produce detection and capture antibodies.
• Perform buffer exchanges, protein concentration measurements, and assays for biotin-to-protein ratios and glycerol content.
• Complete production documentation, batch records, equipment maintenance records, and data entry.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, supplies, equipment, raw materials, and reagent inventories.
• Support process improvements that increase product quality and manufacturing output.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, an associate degree with equivalent applicable experience.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and follow laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and protective-equipment requirements.
• Strong scientific fundamentals, analytical skills, communication skills, and attention to data accuracy.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software tools.
• Ability to work onsite in Rockville, Maryland, USA and meet physical requirements including frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.

Nice to have

• Internship or prior manufacturing experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of JDE.
• Knowledge of cGMP and/or ISO certification requirements.
