Staff Build Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Drive the performance, scalability, and reliability of the CI/CD platform.
• Reduce build, test, and deployment times across the engineering organization.
• Design scalable automation that improves developer productivity while maintaining release quality.
• Optimize distributed build systems, caching strategies, test execution, and resource utilization.
• Partner with software teams to streamline workflows and remove operational bottlenecks.
• Establish tooling, engineering standards, and observability for CI/CD health and developer experience.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience for Senior level or 10+ years for Staff level in Build Engineering, Developer Productivity, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong programming experience in Python, Go, Bash, or similar automation languages.
• Deep experience designing and optimizing CI/CD infrastructure, distributed build systems, pipeline optimization, and test automation.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, Buildkite, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Bazel, Buck2, or CMake.
• Experience supporting Linux development environments and large-scale software engineering workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with monorepos, distributed compilation, remote execution, and build caching.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or developer productivity tooling.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, embedded software, gaming, or other performance-sensitive organizations.
• Experience implementing observability, monitoring, and analytics for CI/CD systems.
