Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, based in the New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, or London office hubs

Salary: $173,000–$240,000 base compensation in San Francisco and New York City; $155,000–$216,000 in other US locations, plus equity

Writer develops an end-to-end enterprise generative AI platform with AI agents, enterprise-grade LLMs, and data-grounded workflows.

What you will do

• Build resilient, scalable, and fault-tolerant infrastructure for high-traffic enterprise AI services.
• Work across SRE, DevOps, infrastructure, and platform initiatives, including on-call systems, release pipelines, multi-region Terraform, and internal platform capabilities.
• Automate infrastructure management and operational tasks using Python or Go, reducing manual toil.
• Operate cloud and container platforms across AWS, GCP, and Azure using Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and related tooling.
• Lead incident response, post-mortems, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
• Define SLOs and error budgets while partnering with product, security, and engineering teams on system design and delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a similar role operating large-scale, highly available production systems.
• Production experience with containerization, Helm, and Terraform or Pulumi on a major cloud platform; AWS experience is preferred.
• Strong Python or Go skills for automation and tooling.
• Daily experience using AI-assisted or agentic development and infrastructure workflows is required.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent.
• Ownership of at least one end-to-end infrastructure build, with measurable results and strong cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Software engineering experience building production services, libraries, or internal frameworks in Python, Go, or a comparable language.
