Staff Developer Experience Engineer (GitLab CI/CD)

Location: US, remote; occasional travel may be required for company onsite meetings and team collaboration.

Base salary: $199,750–$270,000 annually, with additional equity eligibility.

hirify.global is a remote cybersecurity product company developing NodeZero, a platform for autonomous penetration testing and security assessment operations.

What you will do

• Define the architecture and roadmap for local development, repository tooling, CI/CD, build systems, and release workflows.
• Build reusable GitLab CI/CD templates, runner capabilities, developer workflows, test gates, artifact promotion, release manifests, and rollback paths.
• Establish secure and reproducible practices for container images, build performance, vulnerability scanning, signing, provenance, and software supply chains.
• Improve delivery observability through setup-time, pipeline-health, release-performance, and adoption metrics.
• Design approved AI-assisted and agentic-development workflows with code review, testing, scanning, permissions, and auditability.
• Partner with Platform, Security, QA, application, data, product, and program teams while mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Developer Experience, Developer Productivity, Build/Release Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or software engineering with substantial tooling and delivery ownership.
• Deep experience designing and operating CI/CD systems, preferably GitLab CI/CD and self-hosted runners.
• Experience with container builds, Docker or OCI images, artifact repositories, reproducible builds, and Kubernetes-based delivery workflows.
• Experience implementing automated tests, security checks, release gates, progressive delivery, and rollback.
• Proficiency in Go and Python, plus strong knowledge of software supply-chain security, dependencies, image vulnerabilities, provenance, secrets, and least privilege.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-team initiatives, influence technical direction, communicate clearly, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with internal developer platforms, paved roads, service templates, developer portals, shared base images, image signing, SBOMs, or provenance controls.
• Experience with GitLab Runner fleets, CI optimization, build caching, multi-repository release systems, local Kubernetes, Dev Containers, Docker Compose, Skaffold, ArgoCD, or GitOps.
• Experience with AI-assisted or agentic engineering workflows, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, pipeline telemetry, or developer-productivity metrics.
• Security-sensitive, regulated, or cybersecurity experience.
