TL;DR
Control Systems Senior Engineer (Power Electronics): Designing and validating real-time controls, simulation models, and L4/L5 architectures for stationary power conversion and inverter products with an accent on embedded systems, grid-connected power electronics, and standards compliance. Focus on MIL/HIL and lab testing, NPI issue resolution, site-level control integration, and developing control algorithms for voltage and frequency stability.

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; onsite five days per week. Domestic relocation is available. Travel is expected up to 20%.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year

What you will do

  • Lead real-time power system design and development for stationary power conversion and inverter controls.
  • Develop simulation models, control algorithms, sequences of operation, FMEA, root-cause analyses, and test plans.
  • Define L4/L5 controls architecture, software requirements, and site control features for power conversion systems.
  • Lead MIL/HIL validation, controls laboratory testing, integration testing, and end-of-line test strategy.
  • Manage NPI controls issues, coordinate milestones with the PMO, and support site-level testing with gensets, loads, telematics, and DC blocks.
  • Guide HIL teams, review test plans, and mentor and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field such as Computer, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems, requirements analysis, technical troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and structured problem solving.
  • Experience or knowledge in real-time control systems, power conversion controls, DSP- or FPGA-based controls, or bidirectional inverter controls.
  • Knowledge of controls architecture, software requirements, control algorithms, simulation models, and model-based development such as Simulink.
  • Knowledge of grid-connected power electronics controls and interconnection standards including IEEE 1547 and UL 1741.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MIL/HIL test planning and execution.
  • Research or academic experience in power electronics, power systems, or real-time control, including a PhD, university laboratory work, or published research.
  • Experience collaborating across teams and mentoring others.
