TL;DR
Product Designer (AI) (Developer Tools): Designing interfaces for autonomous software agents across Factory's CLI, desktop app, web platform, and integrations with an accent on simplifying complex AI behavior and building trustworthy user experiences. Focus on end-to-end product design, evolving a cross-platform design system, and translating multi-step autonomous tasks, code review, and incident response into intuitive workflows.
Location: On-site in San Francisco, California, 5 days per week, within walking distance of Caltrain.

What you will do
- Own end-to-end design for core product surfaces from initial concept through shipped UI.
- Design workflows for the terminal UI, web app, desktop app, and IDE integrations.
- Translate multi-step autonomous tasks, code review, and incident response into clear and trustworthy interfaces.
- Establish and evolve the design system across all product surfaces.
- Conduct user research and usability testing with enterprise engineering teams.
- Collaborate directly with engineers and product managers to ship at high velocity.
Requirements
- 4+ years of product design experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating product thinking from problem framing through polished, shipped work.
- Expert proficiency in Figma and mastery of design systems and component-driven workflows.
- Strong visual and interaction design skills, including typography, spacing, motion, and visual polish.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers and understand technical constraints.
- Comfort using AI tools to translate designs into working frontend code.
Nice to have
- Experience designing developer tools, infrastructure, or technical B2B products.
- Experience with CLI or terminal user interfaces.
- Experience with AI-powered products.
