Materials and Battery Compliance Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $171,000–$200,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Develop and execute global certification strategies for battery systems and regulated materials.
• Translate regulatory requirements into actionable engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain requirements.
• Lead pre-certification and formal certification testing, including issue resolution and corrective actions.
• Own compliance documentation, labeling requirements, test reports, and certification evidence packages.
• Build relationships with certification laboratories, notified bodies, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in battery compliance, materials compliance, or product certification engineering.
• Deep technical expertise in battery compliance standards and global materials regulations.
• Hands-on experience with UL certification processes and battery safety standards, including UN 38.3, UL 1642, UL 2054, IEC 62133-2:2017, and ANSI/NEMA C18.
• Strong working knowledge of RoHS, REACH, WEEE, Conflict Minerals, and California Prop 65.
• Experience managing certification testing programs, compliance documentation, and external certification partners.
• Ability to interpret ambiguous regulations and operationalize them into practical engineering requirements.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with SEM-EDX, FTIR, XRF, ICP-MS / ICP-AES, GC/MS, and ion chromatography.
• Experience supporting battery certification programs across multiple global markets.
