Forward Deployed Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, United States; work arrangement: on-site

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 USD per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and implement integrations with customer engineering teams.
• Build proof-of-concepts, code snippets, internal tools, documentation, and reusable integration assets.
• Own technical onboarding from signed contract through production launch.
• Debug live integration issues across APIs, SDKs, payment flows, and distributed data systems.
• Analyze transaction and integration data to identify bottlenecks and guide customers in adopting new features, payment methods, and workflows.
• Translate customer challenges into product insights and partner with Sales on account expansion.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of software engineering experience or an equivalent technical background.
• Fluency in TypeScript and React for debugging, prototyping, and teaching others.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, integrations, and distributed system data flows.
• Ability to write database queries for debugging, reporting, and analysis.
• Excellent communication skills for customer conversations and technical workshops.
• Curiosity, entrepreneurial mindset, and comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

• Experience with payments, fintech, or transaction processing.
