What you will do

• Lead and independently execute complex ecological consulting projects and specialized biological field studies.
• Conduct desktop assessments, habitat evaluations, species-specific surveys, nesting bird surveys, botanical inventories, impact assessments, and mitigation monitoring.
• Prepare technical reports, pre-construction and compliance documentation, and regulatory permit applications.
• Implement habitat and species restoration, enhancement, and management projects using GPS, GIS, aerial surveys, statistics, and specialized software.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, progress, stakeholder follow-up, and project meetings.
• Lead field teams, interpret survey protocols, mentor junior staff, and provide performance feedback.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental biology, ecology, wildlife management, botany, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in biological sciences, including strong field skills.
• Strong knowledge of California flora and fauna, sensitive species ecology, and California environmental regulations, including ESA, CESA, CEQA, NEPA, and 401/404 permitting.
• Proficiency with Google Earth, GPS, GIS, binoculars, cameras, aerial surveys, statistics, and specialized software and databases.
• Ability to work independently in field and office environments, travel overnight, and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as M.S., M.A., M.E.M., or Ph.D.
• Professional certificate such as GIS or P.M.P.
• Permits to handle threatened, endangered, or sensitive species.
