Senior Manager of Science Diagnostics (Fusion)

Location: On-site in Everett, Washington, United States

Salary: $240,000–$290,000 per year, plus equity

Fusion power company developing a prototype and pursuing the construction of a fusion power plant to provide clean, reliable, and affordable electricity.

What you will do

• Lead a team of scientists and engineers across experimental diagnostics projects.
• Manage the design, implementation, and testing of instrumentation and procedures for improving fusion plasma performance.
• Develop the team roadmap and connect the physics of different subsystems into a strategic vision.
• Present scientific progress in internal meetings and at conferences.
• Own schedules, optimize team execution, and accelerate project milestones.
• Drive design, analysis, and process improvements to increase throughput.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in physics or a related physical science discipline.
• 5+ years of scientific research experience.
• 3+ years managing scientists or engineers in research, development, or technology settings.
• Knowledge of applied plasma physics with hands-on hardware design and development experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex interdepartmental projects, including schedule ownership.
• Ability to work on-site at the Everett, Washington office.
