Director of Data Platform

Polymarket operates a peer-to-peer prediction market platform where users trade on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, and develop data engineering, analytics engineering, and data science teams.
• Own the data platform architecture and roadmap from ingestion through modeled data layers.
• Establish standards for data modeling, testing, freshness SLAs, incident response, and dataset ownership.
• Partner with engineering on instrumentation and on-chain data ingestion for new products.
• Prioritize platform investments with analytics leaders and business stakeholders.
• Make tooling decisions across orchestration, transformation, data warehouses, and BI while managing cost, performance, and scalability.

Requirements

• 10+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data science, including 4+ years of management experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary data teams and building teams through hiring.
• Strong technical foundation in data models, architecture proposals, and query plans.
• Production experience with modern data stack technologies such as Airflow, dbt, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, ClickHouse, AWS, or GCP.
• Track record of improving data quality and establishing trusted, dependable datasets.
• Ability to prioritize competing stakeholder needs in a fast-moving environment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with on-chain data ingestion or blockchain infrastructure.
• Experience supporting finance or regulatory reporting.
• Experience in fintech, crypto, prediction markets, or other data-intensive financial products.
