What you will do

• Lead the development of molecular assays and NGS workflows for high-throughput clinical laboratories.
• Design, execute, and analyze R&D studies, qualification studies, and validation studies.
• Lead assay validation and clinical implementation from study design through launch, including workflow development, SOP creation, and documentation.
• Interpret data, troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive workflow improvements.
• Collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, provide scientific leadership, and mentor junior scientific staff.
• Support laboratory automation, liquid handling robotics, and implementation of new laboratory workflows.

Requirements

• Ph.D. with 0 or more years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in molecular biology, assay development, or a related field.
• Required experience in assay development or validation and in a clinical laboratory environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, experimental design, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Experience with DNA/RNA extraction and purification, NGS library preparation, hybrid capture, and sequencing workflows.
• Experience with PCR-based techniques, including PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, and ddPCR, as well as nucleic acid quantitation and analysis.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with FFPE tissue workflows.
• Experience developing and implementing protocols for CAP/CLIA/NYSDOH or other CLIA-regulated laboratories.
• Familiarity with LIMS and laboratory data systems.
