Accounting Lead (Technical Accounting)

Location: San Jose, United States; on-site. Relocation support is available for candidates moving to San Jose.

What you will do

• Own revenue accounting policies under ASC 606 or IFRS 15, including complex contracts, performance obligations, variable consideration, and non-standard terms.
• Partner with Go-to-Market, Legal, and Deal Desk teams on accounting treatment for new products, bundled offerings, and contracts.
• Implement and maintain NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management in line with accounting guidance and standards.
• Research and document complex accounting matters, including R&D NRE, leases, stock-based compensation, debt and equity instruments, and impairments.
• Lead external financial statement preparation, footnote disclosures, quarterly and annual close sign-off, and equity-related financial reporting.
• Build and develop a team of revenue and technical accounting professionals while strengthening internal controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or corporate technical accounting or revenue roles.
• Deep expertise in ASC 606 and broad technical accounting knowledge across multiple areas of GAAP.
• Experience with SEC reporting and public-company requirements is strongly preferred.
• Prior people-management experience and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building a technical accounting and financial reporting function from 0 to 1 at a high-growth, venture-backed company.
• Experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing cost accounting, hardware revenue recognition, warranty reserves, NRE, and complex customer contracts.
