Product Interface Engineer (Manufacturing Engineering)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance at the assigned location at least 3 times per week. Local travel is required, with travel expected to be under 25%. Relocation benefits may be available.

What you will do

• Act as the primary liaison between Body Manufacturing Engineering and Product Engineering throughout the Global Vehicle Development Process.
• Incorporate Manufacturing Requirements and Best Practices into product program design releases.
• Ensure designs support Common Datum Locating Strategy, hole-to-hole, Body Shop ABC dimensional strategies, and global inter-buildability.
• Develop and execute Plan for Every Part documentation, manufacturing concept sheets, study requests, and Critical Interface Plans.
• Manage Body-in-White engineering changes, cost increase tracking, tooling integration, buy-off, and manufacturing validation material orders.
• Support sourcing, technical reviews, plant-build issue resolution, dimensional quality activities, and subassembly strategy decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, plant personnel, and suppliers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to travel locally as needed.

Nice to have

• 1–2 years of manufacturing environment experience.
• Body-in-White tooling design and build experience.
• Experience with Teamcenter and VisMockup.
• Familiarity with math-based manufacturing, dimensional processes, GM North America standards, and the Global Vehicle Development Process.
