TL;DR
Robotics Software Engineer (Robotics/AI): Building reliable software systems for physically deployed robots with an accent on teleoperation interfaces, low-latency networking, real-time video streaming, and system performance. Focus on optimizing distributed hardware-software pipelines, minimizing latency and jitter, and debugging timing issues across compute, networking, and robot interfaces.

What you will do

  • Design comfortable and precise remote teleoperation interfaces for robots with many degrees of freedom.
  • Optimize network performance and teleoperation systems for low latency, including operation in weak internet conditions.
  • Profile and optimize compute, I/O, memory, scheduling, networking, and storage to meet real-time constraints and improve throughput.
  • Develop and optimize real-time video streaming systems, including frame timing and packet scheduling.
  • Build profiling, tracing, and debugging tools for timing issues across distributed systems and hardware interfaces.
  • Collaborate with researchers, hardware engineers, platform engineers, and robot operators to integrate optimized pipelines into production workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in C++, Rust, or Python, with experience building and optimizing production software.
  • Experience with real-time or near-real-time systems, VR/AR, video pipelines, 3D engines, or streaming systems with strict latency budgets.
  • Ability to optimize across drivers, networking, compute workloads, video frameworks, and distributed components.
  • Experience with profiling and debugging tools such as perf, tracing, eBPF, GPU profilers, or network analyzers.
  • Understanding of determinism, throughput, frame budgets, jitter minimization, and real-time correctness.
  • Ability to collaborate with robot users, researchers, and platform engineers to build precise teleoperation interfaces.

Nice to have

  • Experience with robot teleoperation systems, VR/AR platforms, or low-latency 3D engines.
  • Camera system expertise, including synchronization, capture pipelines, codecs, or GPU offload.
  • Experience with WebRTC, real-time transport optimization, streaming, or video conferencing stacks.
  • Background in robotics or autonomous systems focused on implementation.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems processing real-time data flows.
