What you will do

  • Build low-latency, bidirectional audio and video streaming systems for telepresence and teleoperation.
  • Design and optimize real-time communication over private 5G and heterogeneous networks.
  • Monitor and improve latency, jitter, packet loss, throughput, QoS, congestion control, and adaptive streaming.
  • Develop, test, and deploy communication systems directly on robotic platforms and physical hardware.
  • Ensure reliable performance during mobility, network handoffs, degraded connectivity, and changing field conditions.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with real-time or near-real-time communication systems, including TCP/UDP, RTP/RTCP, or WebRTC.
  • Strong networking fundamentals, especially wireless and cellular networking.
  • Experience with Linux networking and debugging tools such as tcpdump, iperf, ss, and iw.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, device-to-cloud architectures, and ROS/ROS2 or similar robotics frameworks.
  • Experience developing and validating systems on physical hardware rather than only in simulations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with LTE/5G deployments, including private 5G networks.
  • Background in telepresence, teleoperation, or real-time audio/video streaming.
  • Experience with WebRTC, GStreamer, RTP pipelines, mesh networking, or device-to-device communication.
  • Expertise in adaptive bitrate, congestion control, QoS, and fault-tolerant networking.
