TL;DR
Controls Engineer (Robotics) (PID/LQR/MPC, C++/Python): Designing and implementing feedback, model-based, and real-time control algorithms for robots with an accent on inverse dynamics, simulation validation, and actuator/sensor integration. Focus on tuning real-time loops, bringing up robotic platforms, and solving complex electromechanical behaviors under uncertain conditions.

What you will do

  • Design and implement PID, LQR, MPC, inverse dynamics, and feedforward control algorithms.
  • Build and validate physical and inverse dynamics models for simulation and control design.
  • Develop and optimize real-time control loops, including neural-network-driven control.
  • Integrate and tune robotic arms, mobile bases, teleoperation systems, and full-body platforms.
  • Debug hardware, software, and runtime issues in complex electromechanical systems.
  • Build sensor and actuator subsystems and collaborate with research, hardware, platform, and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of model-based control algorithms and inverse dynamics.
  • Ability to validate control approaches in simulation and transfer them to real hardware.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, including firmware-adjacent development.
  • Experience writing and tuning real-time control loops.
  • Hands-on ability to debug electromechanical systems end to end.
  • Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet communication protocols.

Nice to have

  • Experience with manipulation or mobile robotic platforms.
  • Exposure to robot learning or integrating learned policies into control stacks.
  • Ability to design or refine custom actuator or sensor hardware.
