Principal Hardware Engineer - IO & Memory Systems (AI Compute): Bringing up, validating, and debugging high-speed IO and memory subsystems from first silicon through customer deployment with an accent on post-silicon validation, system-level debug, and product reliability. Focus on root-causing issues across silicon, board, and software layers, developing validation infrastructure, and improving bring-up scalability across product generations.

Salary: $180,000–$255,000 USD base salary

What you will do

  • Own post-silicon bring-up and validation of high-speed IO and memory subsystems, including characterization, functional validation, stress testing, and performance analysis.
  • Lead system-level debugging across silicon, boards, firmware, and software through verified root cause and resolution.
  • Drive power-on readiness, debug infrastructure, tooling setup, contingency planning, product validation, deployment, and RMA debug.
  • Review SoC architecture, board designs, and SI/PI analysis to provide post-silicon and real-world deployment feedback.
  • Contribute to pre-silicon verification and emulation to improve bring-up efficiency and test coverage.
  • Build scripts and tooling that automate validation, debugging, data analysis, and scalable test workflows.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 7+ years of experience in post-silicon validation, system bring-up, or a related hardware engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed IO or memory protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, HBM, CXL, or UCIe.
  • Strong analytical skills for test development and data-driven debugging.
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional debugging across hardware, firmware, and software teams.

Nice to have

  • Expertise in high-speed SerDes training, adaptation, and equalization.
  • Experience with mixed-signal IO design and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs, and VNAs.
  • Programming experience in C or C++ for tooling, automation, or low-level debugging.
