Autonomous Vehicle Operator (AI)

Location: Onsite in South San Francisco, California; the first two weeks of training are in Santa Clara, California. Afternoon/evening shifts run from 2:00pm to 10:30pm PT, five days per week, with rotating Monday–Sunday schedules.

Salary: $27/hour base rate, plus weekend differential, benefits, and possible discretionary biannual contract completion bonus.

What you will do

• Operate test vehicles in manual and autonomous modes for up to eight hours per day in varied traffic conditions.
• Use proprietary software to collect real-world driving data and provide detailed feedback to engineers.
• Monitor safety and navigation systems, maintain situational awareness, and follow operational driving procedures.
• Troubleshoot operational issues in real time and collaborate with the Mission Operations team to resolve them.
• Complete vehicle inspections and basic maintenance, including washing vehicles and checking tire pressure.
• Interact with the public and host professional ridealongs for executives, investors, stakeholders, and engineers when required.

Requirements

• Must work onsite in California and reliably complete a five-day afternoon/evening shift.
• Current valid California driver's license and at least three years of possession of a US driver's license required.
• Clean driving record; ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort operating laptops, tablets, smartphones, and standard field equipment.
• Ability to remain focused and adaptable while working independently or in small groups under changing conditions.
