Location: South San Francisco, California; onsite 5 days per week
Salary: $156,000–$166,000 per year for successful US-based applicants, plus annual performance bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do
- Lead the generation, characterization, maintenance, and quality control of iPSC lines and their differentiation into cardiomyocytes.
- Design and optimize scalable iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte assays in 2D monolayer and 3D engineered heart tissue formats.
- Build and apply patient-derived and CRISPR-edited isogenic disease models to study cardiovascular mechanisms.
- Develop high-throughput functional readouts for contractility, electrophysiology, calcium handling, and stress responses.
- Partner with ML scientists, computational biologists, and chemists to generate training data, interpret model outputs, and support target identification and validation.
- Mentor junior scientists and technicians while driving rigorous documentation, SOPs, and reproducible data standards.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in cell biology, biomedical engineering, cardiac physiology, or a related field, plus at least 3 years of industry experience.
- Deep hands-on experience with iPSC culture, cardiac directed differentiation, and iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte characterization across 2D and 3D/EHT platforms.
- Experience building and applying genetic iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte disease models, including patient-derived lines and CRISPR-edited isogenic pairs.
- Strong knowledge of cardiomyocyte biology and cardiovascular disease.
- Experience with high-content imaging or automated microscopy, image analysis pipelines, GWAS, and human genetic evidence.
- Ability to work onsite in South San Francisco 5 days per week.

- Experience connecting cellular phenotypes to disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.
- Interest in ML-driven experimental design and understanding how biological data shapes model learning.
