Scientist 3, CVRM Discovery / Research Biology (Biotech)

Location: Onsite at the South San Francisco, California, United States campus. Relocation benefits are available.

Salary: $103,400–$192,000 per year, plus potential discretionary annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Investigate novel pathways, targets, and therapeutic approaches across cardiovascular, renal, metabolic, and obesity-related diseases.
• Design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret independent controlled experiments using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo approaches.
• Conduct target discovery and mechanism-of-action studies across multiple therapeutic modalities and disease areas.
• Culture mammalian and primary cells, perform gene manipulation, and characterize gene expression.
• Perform tissue isolation, flow cytometry, protein and RNA processing, plate-reader assays, reporter assays, dose-response analysis, and statistical analysis.
• Present findings, contribute to publications and conferences, mentor colleagues, and maintain a collaborative and safe laboratory environment.

Requirements

• PhD in a life science discipline such as cell biology or biochemistry, or a bachelor's degree with 8+ years or master's degree with 6+ years of equivalent industry experience.
• Strong track record demonstrated through high-quality publications and understanding of cardiovascular and metabolic disease biology.
• Experience with mammalian and primary cell culture, including cardiomyocytes, immune cells, or organoids.
• Experience with CRISPR, shRNA, lentivirus, qRT-PCR, RNA sequencing, Western blotting, and ELISA.
• Experience with ex vivo tissue isolation, downstream processing, flow cytometry, cardiovascular models, immunology, and cardiovascular physiology.
• Onsite presence at the South San Francisco campus is required.

Nice to have

• PhD in a life science discipline is strongly preferred.
• Experience with or willingness to develop in vivo models.
