TL;DR
Senior Computational Biologist – Early Discovery Immunology (Immunology): Integrating phenomics, transcriptomics, genomics, and proteomics to discover and validate therapeutic targets in immunology and inflammatory diseases with an accent on patient genetics, druggability, and precision I&I strategies. Focus on piloting computational methods, building target data packages, identifying mechanisms of action, and advancing early drug discovery programs toward clinical development.

Location: Hybrid, office-based in Salt Lake City, Utah or New York, New York; employees must work in the office at least 50% of the time

Salary: $166,980–$220,660 annual base salary in New York City or $151,800–$200,600 annual base salary in Salt Lake City, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits

What you will do

  • Evaluate molecular evidence to nominate and validate therapeutic targets in immunology and inflammatory disease biology.
  • Pilot methods for target discovery, disease biology validation, and early patient population hypotheses.
  • Define criteria for target data packages and early patient population strategies.
  • Connect analysis methods with platform and engineering teams to scale target discovery capabilities.
  • Collaborate with biologists, medicinal chemists, translational experts, data scientists, engineers, and portfolio leads.
  • Present analyses to decision-makers and stakeholders to support program milestones and investment decisions.

Requirements

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, immunology, or a related field with a strong computational focus and 3+ years of biotech or pharma experience, or an MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience solving fundamental problems in early drug discovery.
  • Domain expertise in immunological diseases and target identification.
  • Strong understanding of patient genetics and the druggability of disease-relevant pathways.
  • Experience applying probabilistic, statistical, or machine learning methods to complex biological or clinical data using Python or R.
  • Exceptional data visualization and cross-functional scientific communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience building target discovery engines using public and proprietary datasets.
  • Experience designing high-throughput CRISPR or small-molecule perturbation screens.
  • Exposure to advancing drug programs from proof of concept to IND.
