Scientist II, Translational Research

Location: Redwood City, California; travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 annually for California-based work. Salary ranges may vary for Colorado, Illinois, and New York.

What you will do

• Partner with pharmaceutical clients to design, develop, and execute computational research projects using the Tempus platform.
• Analyze and integrate large clinical, molecular, transcriptomic, and other multimodal datasets to identify research insights and opportunities.
• Develop client solutions and global account strategies in collaboration with account, Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams.
• Co-architect projects that address customer challenges and provide technical guidance to biopharma partners.
• Document, summarize, and present technical methods and results to non-technical and diverse audiences.
• Author whitepapers and provide leadership with feedback on client needs, product opportunities, and strategic objectives.

Requirements

• PhD in a quantitative discipline such as biostatistics, statistical genetics, cancer genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or computational immunology; alternatively, a PhD in molecular biology or immunology with a strong computational biology record.
• At least 4 years of experience in drug development using genomic and multimodal data for drug discovery and development.
• Strong understanding of molecular data, AI in drug discovery, cancer, immunology, clinical trials, and real-world evidence platforms.
• Experience integrating multimodal clinical and omics data, including large transcriptome datasets.
• Proficiency in R, Python, and SQL.
• Ability to communicate insights clearly, influence internal and external stakeholders, and work in interdisciplinary teams.

• Consulting or client-facing experience.
• Strong peer-reviewed publication record.
• Experience with Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebooks, RStudio, tidyverse, ggplot, Git, matplotlib, seaborn, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, D3, Plotly, Flask, Dask, Docker, and AWS.
