TL;DR
Applied AI Engineer (LLM agents for chip development): Building agentic workflows that accelerate RTL design, verification, EDA, silicon validation, and hardware debugging with an accent on tool integration, retrieval, and measurable evaluations. Focus on connecting agents to simulators, regressions, waveform and log analysis, lab equipment, and engineering infrastructure while proving their impact on real chip-development tasks.

Location: On-site in San Jose, California

Salary: $150,000–$275,000 per year plus significant equity

hirify.global builds frontier AI hardware by co-designing chips, racks, software, and manufacturing systems focused on high-throughput, low-latency inference.

What you will do

  • Build, deploy, and maintain LLM-agent workflows for chip-development tasks, including debug triage, testbench and coverage work, waveform and log analysis, EDA script generation, and technical knowledge retrieval.
  • Embed with RTL design, verification, DFT, physical design, and silicon-validation teams to identify high-impact problems and automate workflows.
  • Design evaluations based on real silicon-engineering tasks and use results to guide iteration and adoption.
  • Integrate agents with simulation and emulation flows, CI and regression systems, lab equipment, and issue tracking through tool-calling and MCP.
  • Create documentation, training, and feedback loops to support adoption among hardware engineers.

Requirements

  • Experience building and shipping LLM-based agents or AI tooling used by real users, including context engineering, tool integration, orchestration, and failure analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills across unfamiliar technical domains and comfort working with ambiguity.
  • Practical fluency with Python and the ability to read, modify, debug, and direct AI-assisted code development.
  • Experience using agentic coding tools, deep research, and frontier AI models to learn and solve new problems.
  • An evaluation-driven approach to measuring whether AI systems work before scaling them.
  • Willingness to work fully in person in San Jose and learn chip-development concepts quickly.

Nice to have

  • Experience with RTL or SystemVerilog, UVM, DFT, physical design or STA, FPGA, emulation, silicon bring-up, or validation.
  • Experience with EDA flows, Tcl scripting, waveforms, logs, and regression systems.
  • Experience with fine-tuning or post-training, RAG over proprietary technical data, or multi-agent orchestration.
  • Experience with C++ or Rust, internal developer platforms, CI/CD at scale, Docker, Slurm, or Ray.
