Principal Python Engineer (Modeling & Simulation)

Location: Boston preferred; San Francisco; remote within the United States. Hybrid or remote work is available. U.S. security-clearance eligibility is required.

Salary: $250,000–$350,000 base plus equity.

What you will do

• Build production-grade Python platforms for advanced modeling and simulation.
• Develop agentic AI systems and distributed workflows using queues and state machines.
• Design backend services and REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs.
• Create code-analysis, static-analysis, and code-translation tools.
• Build cloud-based, containerized systems with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while remaining hands-on.

Requirements

• Deep experience building and shipping production Python systems.
• Experience with C++ and AFSIM, or comparable modeling and simulation systems.
• Ownership of complex backend or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of APIs, data structures, failure handling, and performance.
• Background in defense, autonomy, robotics, aerospace, geospatial, logistics, or operations research.
• Eligibility for U.S. security clearance and the ability to work remotely within the United States.
