Lead Historic Preservation Specialist (Part-Time - 30hrs/week)

Location: Remote — Southeastern US preferred; Nationwide Remote Office (US99).

Salary: $81,499.00–$138,549.00 annually based on full-time employment.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership in architectural history, including developing technical approaches, delegating tasks, and performing QA/QC on reports and documents prepared by junior staff.
• Manage environmental compliance and cultural resource management projects, including client communication, task orders, budgets, invoicing, schedules, personnel planning, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate resources for the National Register of Historic Places, develop management recommendations, assess project effects, and address complex management challenges requiring advanced technical or regulatory knowledge.
• Collaborate with archaeologists, historians, ethnographers, landscape historians, natural resources scientists, planners, regulators, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Work with clients on programmatic strategies, feasibility studies, implementation, operations, and maintenance to achieve long-term objectives and efficiencies.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Architectural History or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in cultural resources management.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check.
• Leadership, mentoring, interpersonal, strategic thinking, teamwork, and client-focused skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment and contribute to employee development.

Nice to have

• Advanced knowledge of NEPA and Section 106 regulatory requirements.
• Experience with private and public sector clients and regulatory agencies in the Southeast.
• Knowledge of the history and architectural history of the Southeastern United States; knowledge of other US regions is a plus.
• Specialization in historic landscapes, public history, or history.
