Digital Preservation and Systems Manager

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; fully hybrid with regular campus working

Salary: £37,694–£46,049 per annum, depending on relevant experience

What you will do

• Lead the technical transformation of digital collection systems to improve discovery, access and long-term preservation.
• Manage systems, infrastructure and services supporting digitisation, digital preservation and access.
• Advise on digitisation, digital preservation, metadata, digital asset management and application support.
• Improve metadata quality, interoperability and integration, and deliver technical projects into operational service.
• Lead supplier relationships and manage and develop a small specialist team.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of digitisation, metadata standards, digital object management and digital preservation approaches.
• Experience supporting digitised collections, technical projects and applications managing metadata and digital objects.
• Ability to import and export digital objects and metadata and work with legacy formats and systems.
• Logical, service-oriented problem-solving approach with strong communication and technical documentation skills.
• Experience managing a small team or providing day-to-day supervision and support.
• Commitment to accessibility, copyright, data protection, safeguarding, ethical practice, inclusion, health and safety and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Experience developing or collaborating on front-end interfaces for digital content.
• Relevant honours degree or professional qualification in library, information, computing or digital scholarship, or equivalent professional experience.
