Senior Project Manager (FEMA HMA)

Location: Hybrid, with on-site work in Los Angeles County, California; willingness to work in and travel across California is required.

Salary: $140,000–$150,000 anticipated base salary; posted full-time pay range is $118,807–$201,971.

What you will do

• Lead large, complex federally and state-funded residential mitigation and community resilience programs from startup through closeout.
• Advise local government and nonprofit clients on FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance projects and grant requirements.
• Manage project requirements, plans, timelines, milestones, resources, issues, risks, and deliverables.
• Direct risk and vulnerability assessments and develop mitigation strategies such as building-code updates, structural retrofits, and community preparedness plans.
• Coordinate grant funding, compliance, stakeholder engagement, public education, and outreach across local, state, and federal agencies and community organizations.
• Lead multidisciplinary professionals, monitor program performance, establish quality controls, and provide data-driven updates to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8+ years of experience managing complex multidisciplinary teams and delivering compliant, high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• 5+ years of FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance project experience spanning program startup, implementation, and closeout.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, written and verbal communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
• Ability to work on site in Los Angeles County and travel across California as needed.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in a related field.
• Experience securing federal grants of $50 million or more.
• Experience with disaster planning, recovery, mitigation, and grants management systems.
• PMP certification.
