Principal Solutions Architect (Federal)

Location: Hybrid in the Washington, DC area, aligned to hirify.global's Reston, Virginia headquarters; U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance required.

Salary: $191,339–$325,277 per year

What you will do

• Define end-to-end solution architectures for federal programs spanning cloud modernization, data and analytics, application development, and AI/ML.
• Lead technical solutioning for competitive federal proposals and capture efforts, including technical approaches, architecture diagrams, staffing models, and basis-of-estimate inputs.
• Advise federal clients and build relationships with CIOs, CTOs, program managers, and technical stakeholders.
• Establish architecture standards, reference patterns, and governance practices across the Federal portfolio.
• Guide delivery teams through design decisions, technical risk mitigation, trade-off analysis, and security and compliance requirements.
• Mentor solution architects and senior engineers while partnering with delivery, capture, and growth leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in solution architecture, software or systems engineering, or technology consulting, including 5+ years architecting enterprise-scale solutions.
• Experience designing and delivering technology solutions for U.S. Federal government agencies.
• Deep expertise in AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud architecture, including migration, modernization, and cloud-native design.
• Experience leading technical solutioning for competitive federal proposals and capture efforts.
• Knowledge of FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, Authority to Operate processes, Zero Trust, microservices, APIs, event-driven design, containers, DevSecOps, and infrastructure as code.

Nice to have

• Active U.S. Government security clearance, such as Public Trust, Secret, or higher.
• Cloud architecture certifications, including AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Experience designing federal data platforms, analytics, and AI/ML solutions.
• Experience leading technical volumes in federal proposal responses or familiarity with federal mission areas.
• Advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline.
