Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid with at least 3 days per week in the local office

What you will do
- Lead and manage engineers across frontend, backend, and full-stack development.
- Own engineering delivery for major product areas, balancing speed, reliability, scalability, and technical quality.
- Drive architecture and engineering decisions across APIs, databases, integrations, infrastructure, and customer-facing systems.
- Set standards for code quality, system design, testing, observability, security, and production reliability.
- Coach engineers, manage performance, establish expectations, and build a high-performing engineering culture.
- Monitor production systems, resolve incidents, identify root causes, and improve processes, tooling, and automation.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with experience building and shipping production systems.
- Experience leading or managing software engineers and owning engineering delivery.
- Technical depth across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience making architecture and technical trade-offs while balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
- Strong people leadership, product sense, ownership, and ability to work effectively with ambiguity.
- Strong English communication is required; English is the main working language across global teams.
